In a tragic turn of events on June 28, 2015, 19-year-old Martice Johnson, a male, was fatally shot in Detroit, Michigan. The incident unfolded under the guise of a marijuana transaction that was allegedly a premeditated setup for a robbery. Two teenagers, 16-year-old Cody Clark and 18-year-old Arkeene Broaden, were later arrested and charged in connection with the homicide.
According to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office, Clark and Broaden had arranged to purchase marijuana from Johnson at a house on the west side of the city. However, their actual intention was to rob him of his money. On the evening of the incident, at approximately 10 p.m., Broaden drove both Clark and Johnson to a residence in the 18100 block of Heyden. While Broaden remained in the vehicle, Clark and Johnson proceeded inside the house.
Once inside, Clark allegedly brandished a handgun and pointed it at Johnson's head. When Johnson attempted to flee, he was shot and killed. A 25-year-old man who was also inside the home witnessed the shooting and exchanged gunfire with Clark as he fled the scene on foot. Subsequently, Broaden, who had witnessed the witness leaving the house, allegedly began shooting at him as he drove away from the location. Police were summoned to the residence and pronounced Johnson dead at the scene.
Following an investigation, both Cody Clark and Arkeene Broaden were apprehended. They were arraigned on charges of first-degree murder, felony murder, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, and felony firearm. Despite his age, Clark was charged as an adult. A probable cause hearing was scheduled for July 23, 2015, with a preliminary examination set for July 30 of the same year.
