On December 29, 2011, a 39-year-old African American man named Reginald Hall was tragically killed in a residence on Detroit's east side. The incident occurred at a home located on the 3900 block of Harding Street, between Mack and Warren Avenues. According to police reports and local news coverage, Hall was gathered with several other individuals inside the house, engaged in a card game, when the violence erupted.
The identified suspect, Frederick Gordon, also known by the street name
"Jeezy," reportedly entered the home and targeted Hall. Authorities described the attack as a "shooting spree" where the victim had no chance to defend himself. Gordon allegedly stalked into the room, located Hall at the card table, and opened fire, striking him multiple times in the torso. Following the shooting, Gordon fled the scene, leaving Hall to die from his injuries. Police investigations at the time did not immediately establish a clear motive for why Gordon targeted Hall or the extent of their prior relationship.
Following the murder, Frederick Gordon became the subject of an intense manhunt by the Detroit Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service. For years after the killing, Gordon remained a fugitive, managing to evade capture despite being featured prominently on "Detroit's Most Wanted" segments. Described as an armed and dangerous career criminal with a history of violence, Gordon was believed to be hiding out on the east side of Detroit or moving between states to avoid arrest. As late as 2018, nearly seven years after the homicide, authorities were still seeking public tips to locate him, and Hall's family continued to wait for justice in the case.
