Daniel Schoenle, 44, from San Diego, California, tragically died in a crash on June 26, 2013. Schoenle was driving a 2000 Dodge Stratus when it lost control, hitting a curb on Friars Road. The vehicle veered off the road, striking a boulder, and caught fire. Although Schoenle managed to escape the wreckage, two of his passengers, Lizzy Garcia and Lupe Acosta, both in their early 20s, were trapped and burned to death.
