On December 22, 2017, 36-year-old Black male Derrick Calhoun was fatally shot outside a liquor store in Detroit, Michigan. The incident occurred following an altercation inside the Mount Elliot and Charlevoix market. After the dispute, one of the individuals involved entered a gray Dodge Challenger, waited for Calhoun to exit the store, and then opened fire, striking him.
