This person was described as a Black male, approximately 28 years old, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing around 165 pounds, with a very clean appearance and a mustache. It was unclear if this individual was a witness or potentially a lookout for the perpetrator. Despite these descriptions and numerous interviews conducted by the Salisbury Police Department, no definitive suspects were ever publicly identified or arrested in connection with the murder of Irma Jane Smith. The case remains an unsolved homicide, a painful cold case in the files of the Salisbury Police Department, who continue to encourage anyone with information to come forward.
