In the spring of 2012, the life of Javell Tyron Heath, a 19-year-old Black / African American male, was tragically cut short. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, on July 28, 1992, Javell was an honor roll student who had earned his high school diploma and briefly attended Montgomery Community College with aspirations of one day becoming a pediatrician. He was known for his amazing personality, his smile, generosity, and a sense of humor that he maintained until the very end.
On the evening of March 27, 2012, on the grounds of the Yorkwood Apartment Complex in the 1100 block of East Belvedere Avenue, Javell was shot. Two days later, on March 29, 2012, he succumbed to his injuries. The dreams he held of a future in healthcare and the joy he brought to his family and friends were extinguished in a senseless act of violence.
In the wake of the shooting, the Baltimore City police sought the public's assistance in solving the homicide. A reward of $2,000 was offered for any information that would lead to an arrest or indictment in the case. However, despite the efforts of law enforcement and the pleas from his grieving family, Javell's murder remains unsolved. To this day, no suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made, leaving his loved ones with unanswered questions and a profound sense of loss.
