In the late summer of 2017, a burst of violence on a street in Southeast Baltimore cut short the life of Carlos Jones, a 27-year-old Black man. On the evening of August 28th, Jones was on South Highland Avenue at Mount Pleasant Avenue when he was shot. The incident left him with critical injuries, and he was rushed to Johns Hopkins Bayview Hospital for medical attention.
For two days, Jones fought for his life, but the severity of his wounds proved to be overwhelming.
He succumbed to his injuries, leaving a community to mourn and a family to seek answers. The Baltimore Police Department opened an investigation into the shooting, treating it as a homicide.
Despite their efforts, investigators have been unable to identify a suspect or a motive in the killing of Carlos Jones. The case grew cold, and to date, no arrests have been made in connection with his death. The police have periodically appealed to the public for any information that could lead to a breakthrough in the investigation, hoping that a witness might come forward with the detail needed to bring his killer to justice.
