On the night of February 28, 2016, 17-year-old African American male Roy Veal was fatally shot outside his home on Madison Avenue in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. According to his mother, Tiffany Veal, a man knocked on their door around 10 p.m., asking for Roy. Moments after Roy stepped outside, gunshots rang out.
