Marc James Allen, a 13-year-old boy from Des Moines, Iowa, was last seen on March 29, 1986. On that day, he told his mother that he planned to walk to a friend's house and possibly see a movie. He asked her to save some pizza for when he returned, but Marc never made it to his friend's home and was never seen again. He was reported missing the following day after his mother contacted his friends and family, all of whom had not seen him.
Unfortunately, the police initially did not open a formal investigation for 48 hours, believing he may have run away.
Marc's case has since remained unsolved. Authorities initially speculated he might have left voluntarily, but as time passed with no leads, they began to explore other possibilities. His disappearance occurred in a time and area associated with two other notable missing children's cases: Johnny Gosch in 1982 and Eugene Martin in 1984, both of whom were paperboys in Des Moines. Despite these similarities, no direct connection between the cases has been officially established.
Marc was last seen wearing a light blue t-shirt, blue jean shorts, white socks, and gray sneakers. His family and investigators are still seeking any information that might shed light on his disappearance, which is now classified as an endangered missing case. Despite the passage of time, the case remains open, and authorities hope that new information or modern investigative techniques might one day provide answers.
