Emily Michelle Sawyer, age 4, was last seen on April 1, 1988, in Toledo, Ohio. She was abducted by her non-custodial mother, Carol Melinda Sawyer, amid a contentious custody battle with Emily's father, Daniel Sawyer. Emily had spent Easter with her mother, and when Daniel went to pick her up, both Emily and Carol were gone. A week after her disappearance, Daniel was awarded full custody of Emily, but by then, mother and daughter had vanished.
