Tammy Lynn Leppert was born on February 5, 1965, in Rockledge, Florida. From an early age, she was immersed in the world of beauty pageants, participating in nearly 300 competitions and securing approximately 280 crowns. Her mother, Linda Curtis, a theatrical and modeling agent, played a significant role in nurturing Tammy's burgeoning career. By her teenage years, Tammy had graced the cover of CoverGirl magazine in October 1978 and had begun to make inroads into acting, securing minor roles in films such as Little Darlings (1980), Spring Break (1983), and Scarface (1983) .
In the months leading up to her disappearance, Tammy exhibited a marked change in behavior. After attending a cast party for Spring Break, she returned home noticeably altered. Friends and family observed that she became increasingly paranoid and withdrawn. She confided in her mother, expressing fears that someone was trying to kill her. Her anxiety escalated to the point where she refused to eat or drink from open containers, fearing poisoning. Concerned for her well-being, her mother admitted her to a medical facility for evaluation. After a 72-hour observation period, doctors found no evidence of drug or alcohol use, and she was released .
On July 6, 1983, Tammy left her Rockledge home with a male friend, reportedly named Keith Roberts. Her mother noted that Tammy left without brushing her hair, an unusual departure from her meticulous grooming habits. The friend later told authorities that they had an argument during their drive, leading him to drop Tammy off near the Glass Bank building in Cocoa Beach. Surveillance footage captured her standing alone in a nearby parking lot. She attempted to call her aunt and a friend multiple times from a public phone but was unsuccessful. Tammy was last seen wearing a blue denim skirt, a blue blouse with flower appliqués, and carrying a gray purse. Some reports suggest she may have been barefoot and possibly three months pregnant at the time of her disappearance .
The investigation into Tammy's disappearance explored several avenues. One theory involved Christopher Wilder, known as the "Beauty Queen Killer," who was active in Florida during that period. Wilder's modus operandi involved luring young women under the pretense of modeling opportunities. Tammy's family filed a lawsuit against Wilder, alleging a connection, but the case was dropped after Wilder's death in 1984. Authorities found no concrete evidence linking him to Tammy's case ....Read More
