The Vanishing on May 4, 2005
Stephen Maurice Ziegler, a 34-year-old African-American man from Erie, Pennsylvania, disappeared without a trace after leaving Barilla’s Tavern on Weschler Avenue on the evening of May 4, 2005. He had been spotted inside the tavern, where another individual purchased him a meal. Ziegler paid for his own food and was seen departing shortly thereafter. But what began as an innocuous night out became a chilling mystery when he never arrived home and was never seen again.
A Profile Marked by Gaps
At six-foot-two to six-foot-five and weighing around 240–245 pounds, Ziegler was a physically imposing figure, characterized by black hair, brown eyes, and noticeable tattoos on his abdomen and arms.
