Sherry Yon Petersen—sometimes recorded as “Sherry Peterson”—was 42 years old when she disappeared on Christmas Eve 1992 in the Ocala/Silver Springs area of Marion County, Florida. For more than two decades her case remained an open missing-person investigation, until 2018 when authorities announced they had determined who killed her despite never finding her remains.
A Holiday Plan That Never Happened
In the days leading up to Christmas 1992, Petersen told her family she would call on Christmas morning.
