The Tragic Night
In the early hours of Saturday, May 14, 2005, the tranquility of Washington, D.C.'s 6500 block of Eastern Avenue, NE, was shattered by the sound of gunfire. At approximately 1 a.m., Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered 21-year-old Kumash M. Deonauth seated in a Chevrolet Impala, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite being rushed to the Washington Hospital Center’s MedStar Unit, Kumash was pronounced dead at 1:38 a.m.
A Young Life Remembered
Kumash Deonauth was more than just a name in a police report. He was a beloved father to his daughter, Cianna, and a cherished son of Diane Goorahoo Deonauth. He was also a brother to Nirvana, Halema, Roberto, and Anjanie Deonauth.
