Christopher Hanford, a 19-year-old, was shot and killed on December 3, 2008, while standing in the 900 block of North Lawler Avenue in Chicago, Illinois. The incident occurred in the evening, and when police arrived at the scene, they found Christopher lying in a fetal position, bleeding heavily. The shooting occurred during a period when Chicago was struggling with a significant number of violent crimes, particularly gun-related homicides that disproportionately impacted young individuals.
