Just after midnight on April 20, 2013, in Chicago's Irving Park neighborhood, a 34-year-old male named Lucas A. Zimmerman was found unresponsive in the parking lot of a convenience store on the 3900 block of North Kimball Avenue.

Multiple gunshot wounds marked the 34-year-old male's final moments as squad cars and tape drew a perimeter around the cold asphalt.

Paramedics and officers converged on the scene, but Lucas A. Zimmerman could not be revived. He was pronounced dead at 12 ...
