On October 6, 2014, Torrence G. Pickens, aged 37, was fatally shot in an alley off of East 44th Street in Chicago. Pickens was sitting in a car when he was attacked. The incident occurred while Pickens was reportedly socializing and drinking with others in the area, some of whom were known gang members.
