Genorel Martin, a 24-year-old resident of Chicago, was fatally shot in the early morning hours of October 18, 2014. The incident took place as Genorel was opening the front door of his apartment building on the 6700 block of South Throop Street in the Englewood neighborhood. As he was entering his home, someone from outside fired gunshots, striking him and leading to his death.
