Antwan McBee, a 16-year-old male, was shot and killed on January 3, 2016, in Chicago's Woodlawn neighborhood. The incident occurred on the South Side of Chicago at around 4:47 p.m. McBee was struck by gunfire and succumbed to his injuries about seven hours later at the hospital. His death was among the first reported homicides in the city in 2016, which turned out to be a particularly violent year for Chicago, with homicides sharply rising over the previous years.
