Burton "Big Burt" Gutterman was found dead on December 5, 1990, in his residence at the Capistrano Condominiums on Maitland Avenue in Altamonte Springs, Florida. Gutterman, who was a pawn shop owner, was discovered bound with a variety of restraints, and the cause of death was determined to be strangulation. The investigation revealed no immediate signs that robbery was the motive behind his killing, as nothing of significant value appeared to be missing from his home.
