On the night of June 2, 2012, James Jackson, a 26-year-old African American male, was fatally shot in Jacksonville, Florida. The incident occurred shortly before 11 p.m. in the 7000 block of North Main Street, near East 61st Street. Jackson and a friend had just exited Sam’s Food Shop, a local convenience store, when they were approached from behind by two individuals. The assailants opened fire, striking Jackson multiple times. His companion managed to escape the scene uninjured.
