In the small town of Georgetown, Georgia, the life of 31-year-old Willie J. Willis, III, also known as “Juman,” was brought to a violent end on Friday, August 4, 2023. On that day, the Quitman County Sheriff's Office requested assistance from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation in a death investigation at 10 Whip O Will Lane. Upon arrival, authorities discovered Willis, a male, deceased at the scene, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
The subsequent investigation into the
homicide led authorities to a suspect. The day after Willis was found, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Quitman County Sheriff's Office arrested 42-year-old Anthony Parkman of Georgetown. Parkman was also injured during the incident that led to Willis's death and was taken into custody after his release from Piedmont Columbus Regional Hospital. An autopsy was performed on Willis at the GBI regional crime lab in Macon to further confirm the details of his death.
Following his arrest, Anthony Parkman was charged with felony murder, aggravated assault, and home invasion in connection with Willie Willis III's death. He was subsequently booked into the Randolph County Jail. The investigation was described as active and ongoing. Willis was remembered by his family for his smile and for being well-mannered. He left behind his mother, father, two children, and several siblings who now cherish his memory.
