In the late afternoon of a Wednesday in Warner Robins, Georgia, the quiet of Camellia Circle was broken by the sound of gunshots. On September 13, 2023, 64-year-old Enrique Arturo Burgess, a man known in his neighborhood as a friendly and kind-hearted individual, was found unresponsive on his front porch with multiple gunshot wounds. First responders rushed him to the Houston Medical Center, but his injuries proved fatal. Those who knew him, including neighbors and family, were left in shock, describing him as someone who didn't bother anyone and was a father figure to many in the community.
The investigation into the shooting quickly gained momentum as tips from the public began to pour in the following day. This information led the Warner Robins Police Department to a suspect. A day after the shooting, a search warrant was executed at a nearby home, and a 15-year-old girl was taken into custody for questioning. The suspect and Burgess were known to each other, as their families were acquainted through the neighborhood, ruling out the possibility of a random act of violence.
The teenage suspect, Jameshia Tangelia Price, was charged with homicide and aggravated assault. Due to the nature of the crime, she was prosecuted as an adult.
