Jabez Spann, aged 14, disappeared on September 4, 2017, in Sarasota, Florida, after attending a candlelight vigil for a neighborhood man who was killed days earlier. It is believed that Jabez witnessed the murder of Travis Combs, a 31-year-old man who was killed in a botched robbery. Jabez's disappearance remained a mystery until February 16, 2019, when his skeletal remains were found by a worker along a fence in a rural area of Manatee County.
Authorities have not disclosed the cause of death, but it was ruled a homicide.
Jabez’s family believes he was killed because he witnessed Combs' murder. Despite numerous tips, no arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing. Jabez's mother has continued to push for justice, hoping to find those responsible for her son's death.
