In early September 2006, the Black Bear Bed & Breakfast in Newry, Maine, became the scene of a horrific series of murders. The tragedy began on September 1 when Christian Nielsen, a 31-year-old cook who had been residing at the inn for several months, fatally shot James Whitehurst, a 50-year-old handyman from Batesville, Arkansas.
