In the quiet town of Post Falls, Idaho, the life of 24-year-old Tyler S. Liles, a Caucasian male, was cut short on the evening of October 20, 2018. Deputies from the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a shooting on South Gallatin Road at approximately 6:45 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered Liles on the ground near a residence, suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound.
Despite the immediate life-saving efforts of both the deputies and Kootenai Fire and
Rescue medical personnel, Tyler Liles succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident was described by the Sheriff's Office as isolated, with no further danger posed to the public.
Present at the scene was 41-year-old William C. Carlson, who was identified as the shooter. Carlson was detained by deputies and subsequently arrested for involuntary manslaughter. He was then booked into the Kootenai County Jail as the investigation into the fatal shooting continued.
