On August 19, 1997, 51-year-old Dennis Lee Joos, the editor of the Colebrook News and Sentinel in Colebrook, New Hampshire, was fatally shot during a violent rampage by Carl Drega. The incident began when Drega, who had longstanding disputes with local authorities, shot and killed two state troopers, Scott Phillips and Leslie Lord, in a supermarket parking lot.
