Patrolman Jeremy T. Charron, a 24-year-old officer with the Epsom, New Hampshire Police Department, was tragically killed in the line of duty on August 24, 1997. The incident occurred during a routine check on a suspicious vehicle parked near a local business.
Around 5:00 AM, Officer Charron approached the vehicle and found two men sleeping inside. As he spoke with one of the men, Gordon Perry, the individual suddenly pulled out a gun and shot Officer Charron.
The other man in the car, Kevin Paul, was also involved in the incident.
Gordon Perry was convicted of capital murder for Officer Charron's death and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Kevin Paul, who was initially released on parole, was later found guilty of hindering apprehension and sentenced to 15 to 30 years in prison. He has since violated his parole multiple times and remains incarcerated. Officer Charron's death was a devastating loss for the Epsom community and a stark reminder of the dangers faced by law enforcement officers every day.
