On November 17, 2021, 32-year-old April Carbone and 43-year-old Richard Pittman were shot and killed at Composite America, a factory in Fargo, North Dakota. Carbone was eight months pregnant at the time, and the unborn child, whom the couple planned to name Layla, also died. The shooter, Anthony Reese Jr., was a co-worker who had been involved in an altercation with Pittman and another employee earlier that day.
