A White/Caucasian female, age 27, Irene Coulthurst was aboard the 58-foot seiner Investor with her husband, Mark, their two young children, and four teenage deckhands when the boat eased into Craig, Alaska, over Labor Day weekend in 1982. After a birthday dinner for Mark on September 5, the Investor drifted from the harbor before dawn, and by the morning of September 7 the vessel lay anchored off Fish Egg Island, strangely idle while others fished.
