On July 27, 2015, 31-year-old Amanda Lynn Bee of North Pole, Alaska, died after a self-inflicted gunshot wound outside the Spring Creek Correctional Center in Seward. At approximately 5 p.m., Bee arrived at the facility's perimeter, armed with a firearm, and demanded the release of convicted inmates, threatening to take her own life if her demands were not met. Before Alaska State Troopers could arrive on the scene, Bee shot herself in the head.
