In May 2016, the remote village of Gambell, Alaska, was shaken by the disappearance of 22-year-old resident Gladys Aningayou. She was last seen on May 12, and her family reported her missing on May 15. On May 16, a body believed to be Aningayou's was discovered several miles outside the village. The Alaska State Troopers, along with the Alaska Bureau of Investigation, initiated an investigation into her disappearance and death.
