In the late afternoon of September 30, 2023, a resident of Adamsville, Alabama, was fatally shot in Birmingham. Micah Honor, a 24-year-old Black male, was driving his black sedan near the 2100 block of Bessemer Road when an unknown individual opened fire on his vehicle. The initial reports to the Birmingham Police Department at approximately 3:20 p.m. were of a traffic accident in the 2000 block of Warrior Road.
After being shot, Honor continued to drive onto Warrior Road, where his car collided with another vehicle before crashing into a construction fence near a block of abandoned apartments. The occupants of the second vehicle were unharmed. When officers arrived at the scene of the wreck, they discovered Honor inside his car, suffering from a gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel were dispatched to the location and, upon their arrival, pronounced him deceased.
Investigators believe that Micah Honor was intentionally targeted. Despite the ongoing homicide investigation by the Birmingham Police Department, no arrests have been made in connection with his death, and no suspects have been publicly identified. Authorities have urged anyone with information regarding the shooting to come forward and contact the B.P.D. Homicide Unit or Crime Stoppers.
