In the late hours of a December night in Accomack County, Virginia, a sequence of events unfolded that would leave a family grieving and a community searching for answers. On Thursday, December 5, 2013, 35-year-old Steven Arnett Pettit, a Black or African American male, was found deceased in his vehicle. The car had crashed into an unoccupied house on Gargatha Landing Road in the Parksley area.
