On the night of September 3, 2007, 17-year-old Liam Herren was fatally shot in Houston while walking along Beggs Street with another individual. The incident occurred around 10 p.m. when Herren and his companion encountered two men, aged between 20 and 21, in an older model Buick. An argument broke out, prompting the driver to get out and open fire with a handgun. He was handed a second weapon, resembling an AK-47, by the passenger, which he used to continue shooting, ultimately killing Herren and injuring the other person.
The suspects fled the scene in the maroon or red Buick, and have been described as Hispanic males—one bald and heavy-set, and the other tall and skinny. The second victim, who was struck in the buttocks, was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital in stable condition. As of the latest updates, the case remains open, and the police are continuing their investigation to identify and apprehend the suspects.
