On June 20, 2012, Tai Nguyen, age 38, was found dead in Houston, Texas. The incident occurred during a shooting that involved three victims at an apartment complex in north Harris County. Law enforcement responded to reports of a shooting at the Gallery at Champions apartments, where they found one of the victims outside, and later discovered two more inside an apartment.
All three victims were shot in the incident. Tai Nguyen was one of those found deceased inside the apartment.
It took over two years for a break in the case, during which law enforcement was gathering forensic evidence and trying to locate witnesses who had left the area. In May 2014, a suspect named Binh Hung Nguyen, aged 20, was arrested and charged with capital murder in connection to the deaths of Tai Nguyen and the two other young men involved in the shooting. Authorities believe the shooting was related to a dispute, but they have not provided further specifics on the motive.
Binh Hung Nguyen was held in the Harris County jail without bond, and police continue to investigate to piece together all the circumstances that led to the tragic event.
