Mark Tony Williams, age 24, was tragically killed on July 7, 1989, while riding his motorcycle home on Cherry Street near Interstate 40 in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was an off-duty patrol officer with the Knoxville Police Department at the time of his death. Williams was shot in the back, and it is believed he was targeted because of his status as a police officer.
