A Penn State University student is murdered in the school's largest library
On November 28, 1969, Betsy Aardsma, a 22-year-old graduate student at Pennsylvania State University, was fatally stabbed while studying in the stacks of the Pattee Library on campus. Betsy had returned early from Thanksgiving break to work on an English paper. She was alone in the library, located in one of the quieter sections, when she was attacked.
