Shawn Merritt, a 26-year-old male, was fatally shot in a double shooting incident on December 20, 2013, in the Overbrook neighborhood of Philadelphia. The shooting occurred at around 8:36 p.m. on the 5500 block of Lansdowne Avenue. Merritt was struck in both the head and chest and was pronounced dead at the scene. A second victim, a 24-year-old male, was also shot in the arm and leg but survived and was reported to be in stable condition at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
