On June 7, 2014, Troy Smith, a 23-year-old from Philadelphia, was tragically killed in a shooting incident in West Philadelphia. He and his uncle, Attif Smith, were driving in the area of 54th and Hunter Streets when an armed gunman attempted to rob them. The incident escalated, and Troy was shot in the back.
