James Rutledge, 23, was found dead on February 25, 1980, in his apartment located in Dayton, Ohio. His death was ruled a homicide, and the case has remained unsolved for decades. James was discovered at his residence on North Gettysburg Avenue after police responded to reports of gunfire in the area. A neighbor had heard gunshots and called the authorities, leading to the discovery of Rutledge's body, which was found propped against his apartment door with four gunshot wounds to the head.
