On May 25, 2007, Damien Topp, aged 23, was shot and killed in Columbus, Ohio. The incident took place on the east side of Columbus at 4792 Laraine Court. Officers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 10:44 a.m. where they found Topp lying on the grass after being shot. According to witness statements, Topp was initially standing in the doorway of his residence when he was shot and then stumbled outside.
Witnesses also reported seeing a man wearing a red and white athletic jersey and a matching baseball cap fleeing the scene after the shooting.
The Columbus Police Department has continued to investigate the case, but no suspects have been formally identified, and the homicide remains unsolved. In 2011, Crime Stoppers offered a reward of up to $2,000 for information that could lead to an arrest or indictment in the case. Despite these efforts, progress in solving the case has been limited, and Damien's murder remains part of Ohio's list of unsolved homicides. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) also continues to seek tips from the public in hopes of bringing the perpetrator to justice and providing some measure of closure to Damien Topp's family.
