Terryl Rucker, a 26-year-old African American man from Oakland, California, was fatally shot on the evening of November 1, 2014. The incident occurred outside Al-Awdi’s Mini Mart and Kitchen, located at 3841 West Street near the MacArthur BART station. At approximately 8:07 p.m., Rucker was approached by at least one individual who opened fire, striking him multiple times.
