On a summer evening in Baltimore, the life of 18-year-old Cedric Duane Stancil was tragically cut short. On June 29, 2014, a shooting erupted in the 800-block of Allendale Street in West Baltimore, near a playground. Stancil was one of three victims caught in the gunfire.
Emergency services responded to the scene just before 7 p.m. and transported the victims to a local hospital. Stancil, of Williston Street, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The violence of that evening also claimed the life of 20-year-old Jamal Campbell of Winchester Street. A third individual was critically injured in the attack.
In the immediate aftermath, Baltimore City Police homicide detectives launched an investigation into the double homicide. They appealed to the public for any information that might lead to the apprehension of those responsible for the shooting. However, despite their efforts, there have been no subsequent announcements regarding any arrests or the identification of any suspects in the years that have passed. The case of who killed Cedric Duane Stancil and Jamal Campbell remains unresolved, leaving a painful void for their families and the community.
